·
Current policy is
that we do not use instructional time for final exams
o
This is a TCTC
policy and not a state policy
o
Policy does not
take in to effect that tests throughout the semester are given during instructional
time
·
Current exam
schedule does not accommodate course offerings, especially hybrid courses
·
Summer Session A
and Session C exams have been conflicting
·
Exam schedule is
not created for non-standard meeting patterns
·
Possible
solutions to exam schedule issues
o
Eliminate final
exams
§ This is not a viable option for Arts and Sciences
because it would affect the transferability of courses
o
Offer weekend
final exams
o
Use last day of
class for final exams
o
Create hybrid
exams for hybrid exams since they are the courses creating the most issues

Eliminating final
exam schedule could add up to 3 weeks to calendar
·
ACTION ITEM:
Scott Harvey asked Academic Calendar Committee to think of other possible
solutions to exam schedule issues

Academic Calendar
Committee will forward solutions to exam schedule issues to Faculty Senate and
then ALT
·
In the future the
Registrar wants the exam schedule to be created earlier and uploaded to SSASECT
o
This would allow
the student to view exam schedule on bill and schedule for each registered
course
o
Student would be
aware of time commitments for course after registration
o
The Registrar
hopes to have this in place in time for Spring 2020 registration
