1.
The override ENG 101/ENG 032 combination is
being deactivated because too many students drop the RDG after getting the ENG
101 override.
2.
The override ENG 100/RDG 032 combination is
being deactivated for the same reason.
3.
Students who score a 36 or lower on the RDG test
have a statistically lower course success rate (43%) than students who score
between 37 and 62 (55%).
4.
The difference in course success rates between
students scoring 37-62 and students who score 63+ is also statistically
significant.
5.
The probability of success in a course increases
as the RDG score increases.
6.
94% of TCTC students score a 63 or higher on the
RDG test, approximately 6% score 37-62, and less than 1% score a 36 or lower.
7.
A preliminary analysis of data indicates that
there is not a statistically significant difference in retention between
students who scored 62 and up on the RDG test and those who scored less than 62
on the RDG test. KC is going to look at this data in more detail.
8.
The COMPASS score of 62 is equal to a 7th
grade reading level (TABE). The COMPASS score of 36 is equal to a 4th
grade reading level (TABE).
