COMPASS Placement Chart –
No score of 100 on COMPASS test, need to revise chart
Reverse
RDG and ENG on chart for easier understanding
Ability to Benefit- 62
needed for Financial Aid.
Students
without paper work- How many scored under 36?
Concerns that 031 and 032 classes are not as rigorous as
other schools
Advising:It was brought to the committee’s attention that students may not understand directions for the reading/writing section of COMPASS resulting in low scores. Suggestions made are as follows:
1.
Advising 1st –then set up everything
then test
2.
Pre-test workshop for COMPASS: need interactive video to help
students
Camtasia-how
to “take the Compass”
3.
Look at testing module: what exactly is told to
students
4.
Testing and Orientation switch to Orientation,
Testing, and Advising
The idea is for students to go through orientation or meet
with an advisor prior to taking the COMPASS then they would understand the
importance of doing their best.
Correct Placement:
Reading cut off scores have not yet been determined by state
Diagnostics as part of COMPASS: 1 unit –1/2 unit pre and post cost $ 1.20
per unit: Find the number of students
who place into developmental courses- pilot those classes with diagnostic
Data on Diagnostic test: Frank Potter doing state studies
