Curriculum Committee Meeting Minutes
November 4, 2013
4:00 p.m.

Members Present:  Melissa Dover, Suzanne Ellenberger, Janet Fuller, Christy Lawless, John Price, Danny Stovall, and John Woodson


Members Absent:  Gayle Arries, Tracy Ethridge, and Marla Roberson


1.    Minutes

 

            The minutes of the October 7, 2013 meeting were approved unanimously. 

 

2.    Committee Member Terms

 

Rebecca Eidson requested an updated Curriculum Committee list with term ending dates for each member.  Melissa will update and send to her to place online. 

 

3.    New Course Proposals

 

The following new course proposals were approved by the Committee:

 

Industrial & Engineering Division

ACR 105 – Tools and Service Techniques I

ACR 111 – Gas Heating Principles

ACR 122 – Principles of Air Conditioning

ACR 131 – Commercial Refrigeration

ACR 140 – Automatic Controls

ACR 160 – Service Customer Relations

ACR 201 – Troubleshooting and Maintenance

ACR 225 – Industrial Air Conditioning

ACR 250 – Duct Fabrication

 

      4. Course Changes

 

The following course changes were approved by the Committee:

 

Arts and Sciences Division

AST 101 – Prerequisite change from “Satisfactory reading and writing placement test scores for ENG 101” to “Satisfactory reading and writing placement test scores for ENG 101 or completion of ENG 101 or ENG 100 and RDG 100 with a grade of C or better.” 

 

AST 102 – Prerequisite change from “Satisfactory reading and writing placement test scores for ENG 101” to “Satisfactory reading and writing placement test scores for ENG 101 or completion of ENG 101 or ENG 100 and RDG 100 with a grade of C or better.” 

 

PHS 101 – Prerequisite change from “Satisfactory reading and writing placement test scores for ENG 101; satisfactory math placement test scores for MAT 102” to “Satisfactory reading and writing placement test scores for ENG 101 or completion of ENG 101 or ENG 100 and RDG 100 with a grade of C or higher; Satisfactory math placement test scores for MAT 102 or completion of MAT 102 with a grade of C or higher

 

PHS 102 – Prerequisite change from “Satisfactory reading and writing placement test scores for ENG 101; satisfactory math placement test scores for MAT 102” to “Satisfactory reading and writing placement test scores for ENG 101 or completion of ENG 101 or ENG 100 and RDG 100 with a grade of C or higher; Satisfactory math placement test scores for MAT 102 or completion of MAT 102 with a grade of C or higher

ARV 227 – Add ARV 217 as a prerequisite

RTV 223 – Add ARV 231 as a prerequisite

 

Industrial & Engineering Division

            EGR 194 – Change in hours from 3-3-4 to 4-0-4

 

5.    Program Changes

 

The following program changes were approved by the Committee:

 

Business & Public Services Division

Digital Production Techniques

-       Delete CPT 170, CPT 290, and IST 222

-       Add ARV 212, ARV 227, and RTV 101

 

Digital Photography Certificate

-       Delete IST 222

-       Credit hours change from 18 to 15

 

Graphic Communications Certificate

-       Delete IST 222

-       Add ARV 212

 

Industrial & Engineering Division

Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning Technology, A.A.S

-       Delete ACR 102, ACR 150, BCT 111, BCT 138, BCT 151, BCT 202, BCT 139, BCT 202, BCT 223, and BCT 240

-       Add ACR 105, ACR 111, ACR 122, ACR 131, ACR 140, ACR 160, ACR 201, ACR 225, and ACR 250

-       Credit hours increased from 69 to 71

 

 

 

 

6.    Other Business

 

Christy Lawless suggested that the Committee have a Financial Aid representative.  There have been representatives present in the past.  John will find out and let everyone know. 

 

Also, John will finalize the new Committee charter soon. 

 

MAT 103, MAT 109, MAT 120, and MAT 130 course changes will be discussed at the next meeting. 

 

7.     Next Meeting

           

The next Curriculum Committee meeting will be on Monday, November 11th at 4 p.m. in Ruby Hicks, 248A.
