Curriculum Committee Meeting Minutes
November 11, 2013

Members Present:  Gayle Arries, Melissa Dover, Suzanne Ellenberger, Janet Fuller, Christy Lawless, John Price, Danny Stovall, and John Woodson

Members Absent:  Tracy Ethridge and Marla Roberson

1.    Keri Catalfomo

Keri stated that MAT 103, MAT 109, and MAT 120 consist of more than numerical math problems.  Students need to be able to read and interpret written math problems.  College level reading is needed.    

2.    New Course Proposals

The following new course proposals were approved by the Committee:

 

Business and Public Services Division

BUS 152 – Service Culture Development

BUS 175 – International Business

            IST 191 – LINUX System Administration

MGT 260 – Leadership Fundamentals

 

 3. Course Changes

 The following course changes were approved by the Committee:

Arts and Sciences Division

MAT 103 – “Change from Satisfactory math placement score or MAT 102 with a grade of C or better, or MAT 101 with a grade of A” to “Satisfactory math placement score or MAT 102 with a grade of C or better, or MAT 101 with a grade of A and a COMPASS Reading score of 83 or RDG 100 or ENG 101 with a grade of C or better”

 

MAT 109 – “Change from Satisfactory math placement score or MAT 102 with a grade of C or better, or MAT 101 with a grade of A” to “Satisfactory math placement score or MAT 102 with a grade of C or better, or MAT 101 with a grade of A and a COMPASS Reading score of 83 or RDG 100 or ENG 101 with a grade of C or better”

 

MAT 120 – “Change from Satisfactory math placement score or MAT 102 with a grade of C or better, or MAT 101 with a grade of A” to “Satisfactory math placement score or MAT 102 with a grade of C or better, or MAT 101 with a grade of A and a COMPASS Reading score of 83 or RDG 100 or ENG 101 with a grade of C or better”

IST 222 – change from prerequisite of CPT 170 to CPT 170 or permission of Department Head

 

Health Education Division

NUR 145 – Change from co-requisite of NUR 106 to no co-requisite
