SERVICE EXCELLENCE TEAM

Meeting Minutes

 Date: April 6, 2021

 Opening: The virtual meeting of the SET was held on Tuesday, April 6, 2021 at 3:00 p.m.

 Present:  Cara Hamilton, Kathy Brand, Laura McClain, Beth Brown, Tim Jared, Melinda Hoover

 Celebrations/Announcements:

Cara welcomed everyone and briefly caught up with the group.  She asked everyone to share their thoughts on the benefits of COVID-19 and virtual meetings.  Opinions shared were as follows: virtual meetings are time savers when it comes to travel between campuses/businesses, it has required us all to use technology in new and innovative ways, it has been positive and negative for students as far as engagement, classes, and meetings/advising, it has given many  the flexibility to work remote and spend more time with family, it has made us learn to be more efficient in our work, it has given us more confidence to explore technology and create innovative ways to connect with students and staff, it has created more efficient work flows, and it has made us all be flexible and learn to think outside of the box.

Discussion took place over the next steps for the SET:

·       Suggestions were for a staff/faculty co-led committee with an Executive Staff sponsor. 

·       Ways to make SET more visible to people around the College.

·       Provide staff development opportunities during PD in future

·       Staff Advisory Board which is being re-vamped- pros and cons of SET being part of this committee…most felt it should be separate.

·       Dr. DeHay’s support of SET

·       More representation is needed on SET- Currently there is no representation from all campuses, CCE, Learning Commons, HR, or IT.  Some names were suggested and will be discussed further.

·       Updating the SET Charter is needed 

Cara asked everyone to come back to the next meeting with suggestions for restructuring SET, SET leadership, expanding the group, and other feedback.

She also asked Laura and Sisireia to report on the SET conference they attended in March.

At the next meeting sub-teams will give update reports.
