Linda Jameison welcomed the
group.
Approval of December 8, 2020 Minutes
Mandy Elmore motioned to
approve the minutes as submitted. Luke
VanWingerden seconded the motion. There
was no discussion. The motion passed.
MyTCTC.edu Portal – Mark Dougherty
Mark gave a brief
introduction to the new portal and noted that it will launch on Monday,
February 1. We will run eTC and MyTCTC
parallel for the spring semester. MyTCTC
is organized with tiles and has a much different look. There are three types of tiles - direct link,
menu, and live. The portal includes a
search feature and a feedback function. MyTCTC
is still in development, and Mark welcomes feedback. Discussion included the following.
· Some single sign on, but not throughout
· Video with FAQs will be out soon
· Mobile experience is almost identical to the web
version
· The portal is a gatekeeper for all systems
· Your user type will determine the tiles you see
· Starfish as a separate tile is on the to do list
· Working on a master directory
· Guest account is sparsely populated, but is available
· Feedback icon is on the top left
· Pretty intuitive; be patient to figure it out
· May change over time, but it is a great start
COVID -19 Student Response Team Updates – Mark
Dougherty
The two online COVID-19 reports
are still active, and the reporting process is the same. There are 30 case managers with the 10
frontline managers handling cases at this time.
Faculty will continue to get notes and updates. Mark noted the COVID-19 testing sites at the
Mechanics Street lot and in Clemson at the Fire Department on Issaquena. The college is working with Clemson to have
on-campus testing. This testing would be
limited each week. With on-campus
testing, Human Resources and the Student Response Team has immediate access to
the results. Linda Jameison noted that
the Accessibility Resources tab has tools to help with short term
accommodations.
2021/2022 Catalog Status – Scott Harvey & Gayle
Arries
Scott noted that they are
reviewing the catalog and will update Acalog with changes. Scott reported that
without a PDF and print version, the catalog could be ready by early
February. A PDF version could be ready
by March 17, and a printed catalog could be available in early April. It was noted that most of our sister colleges
do not print catalogs, most faculty and staff do not need the entire catalog,
and that print versions are very expensive.
Discussion took place on the necessity of a print catalog and included
the following.
· Acalog is ADA compliant
· Able to make some changes in Acalog; need list of
changes; cannot change curriculum
· Print is very expensive
· Nicety vs Necessity
· Consider how many catalogs we throw away
· Need to preserve catalog rights; Acalog will not
impact students’ rights
· Would need training on how to use Acalog effectively
· Acalog as a consistent message in one place is beneficial
in many ways
· Can send to the print shop for printing; printability
will be entirely different
· Need to consider that some employees do require a
printed work copy of the catalog
· PDF could fill most needs, but cannot make changes to
the PDF
· Many of our students do not have access to the
internet; print version would benefit them; keep them in mind
· Student focus groups noted that they picked their
programs from the catalog; it has value
· Catalog is a contractual document, not a marketing
tool
· Need recruiting pieces; programs at a glance and more
robust viewbook may be able to replace the catalog as a recruiting piece
· Catalog is the college in totality; has marketing
elements; for non-traditional students it is the most requested piece
· Students have to engage online, but we have a paper
catalog; may be counter-intuitive
· Place a catalog tile on MyTCTC
At this point, the members of
the group voted their preference on the three possible versions:
· Acalog only
· PDF
· PDF and Print
The majority of the group
voted for Acalog only. Linda, Karen, and
Jenni will review this information and bring a decision back to ALT.

Noted the documentary Black Men in White Coats will be shown
on February 15, 16 and 17. This is a
collaborative event with Learning Commons and the Men of Color team. The
documentary addresses the need for men of color in health professions. Jackie asked the members of the group to
encourage participation. A panel event
on this topic will take place on campus on February 24.
Bryan Manuel:
Reported that traffic with
businesses has picked up. This is
encouraging and is in large part due to the hard work by members of the group
and their teams.
Scott Harvey:
Reminded the group that
administrative drops will take place on Friday, January 29. Attendance must be keyed by 9:00am. We have many students with no records.
Melanie Gillespie:
The college has given $2.5
million to students to help with tuition and fees. We have some remaining funding available for
students. She asked the members of the
group to let her know of any struggling students and students with needs. She and Croslena Broadwater-Johnson are
working as a team to address needs.
Ahmad Chaudhry:
The Health Education faculty
and the majority of students are cleared as priority for the COVID
