§  Group discussed that time commitment and decided that this is a medium time commitment for group
Meeting Times
·         Last couple of meeting we have not had a quorum so it has been suggested that we plan out the meetings for the semester
·         Teaching schedule changes and hard to plan semester to semester
·         For Fall 2019 group decided that early afternoon on Monday’s and Tuesdays are preferred

Calendar Considerations
·         Considerations have not been changed since last meeting
·         Scott discussed with Galen consistent topics that create issues when making calendar
·         Drop/Add Period
·         Professional Development Day
·         Exam Schedule
·         Same number of each day required
·         Scott plans to invite new VPAA to meeting to show them how we do business
·         When asked how schools like Clemson create calendar the biggest difference is they have 15 weeks and we have 14
·         Clemson also does not hold labs first two weeks of semester
·         Why did TCTC change from 15 weeks to 14 weeks?
§  In the past there were 11 no class days in addition to College Closed days
§  When it was further looked at there was no need to have 15 weeks
§  Conversion from quarter system to semester system
§  Also impacts parts of term
·         Other school’s interpretation of SACS requirements may give them some internal flexibility
·         Counting days is not a SACS requirement, counting of minutes is required
·         When prioritizing issues that we would like resolved that make creating the calendar difficult the group decided the level of importance as:
·         Professional Development Day
§  Faculty requested a day
§  Staff requested a day that allowed each office to have their retreats on one day instead of each office closing separate times
§  Years ago the College went off for PD Day
·         Number of meeting days
·         Drop/Add Period and Exam Schedule will need to be looked at philosophically to decide what direction College will go
Membership
·         Need to get a schedule on when faculty members are rotating off
o   This excludes Robin and Pam as Faculty Senate representative
